Jobs, a General Statement   The purpose of the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) is to provide the best workforce training that can possibly be designed in local communities across the nation. Yet too few business owners and workers - especially in the small business sector - are involved in or even know about the WIA's local training programs. Bob Casey's plan thus calls for a revamping of WIA to make sure that employers and workers are at the center of designing local WIA training initiatives. Their active participation will improve WIA's responsiveness to the needs of local economic markets and help develop new economic partnerships throughout those markets.
