Tom Houghton knows that Chester County is one of the best places in the country to live, work and raise a family. That's why he's focused, first as a Supervisor in London Grove Township and now as a State Representative, on protecting and growing jobs in the county, reducing property taxes, cutting wasteful spending and reforming government.
In Tom's first term as a state Representative, he has been hard at work pushing for legislation that will improve the 13th district and Pennsylvania. Tom introduced a bill to eliminate School Property Taxes (HB 1966) and fought to increase basic education funding, preventing our school boards from having to raise property taxes for the first time in years.
Tom successfully fought to create private sector jobs by removing an unfair tax on a major manufacturer, creating new jobs in the district (HB 1531) and has been a strong supporter of agriculture. He knows that protecting our farmland and using smart growth policies to protect open space benefits the people of Southern Chester County.
Understanding that government must live within its means just as families do, Tom is proud to have voted for budgets that cut more than $400 million in spending and held the line on taxes. That's why Tom is pushing to ensure that anyone who lives or works in Chester County is here legally and eligible to work and is paying taxes before they can receive any benefits.
2010 will be a crucial year! We must come together to support our State Representative, Tom Houghton. Tom has proven that he fights for us, that he works hard for us, and that he will continue to fight for the people of the 13th district.
Let's send Tom Houghton back to Harrisburg!
